This image was one of five images in a series titled "Americana" using HDR photography and still-life objects to comment on the history of America. The series was inspired by Dutch still-life paintings by the Little Masters and, like those paintings, every object in these series are symbols. Unlike the Dutch paintings, the symbols in this series comments on history, growth, and development rather than vanity. The HDR method was employed to mimic the glow of oil paintings. This image, "Americana #3" won third place in the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Show 2013.
